Purpose of Establishment

During the Japanese colonial period, Chun Hyungpil (pen name Kansong) dedicated himself to collecting and preserving artifacts that exemplified the Korean people's cultural heritage.

His goal was to ensure the continuity of Korea's cultural traditions during a challenging historical period.

The Kansong Art and Culture Foundation was established to further Kansong’s vision after his passing.

Foundation Initiatives

  • Conservation, documentation, and research of the Kansong Collection
  • Support for the development of a permanent exhibition space at the Kansong Art Museum, preservation of Bohwagak, and creation of a memorial center for Kansong
  • Organization of research projects, archaeological excavations, and academic seminars to promote Korean arts and culture
  • Publication of scholarly materials and curation of exhibitions both domestically and internationally
  • Provision of scholarships and educational support for promising individuals in the field of Korean arts and culture
  • Collaboration with educational, academic, cultural, and journalistic organizations on related projects
